Our client is a very well established, reputable and brand led Manufacturer of high-end and innovative products. They have manufacturing sites based in th! e UK and around the World and supply an impressive global customer base. Following their acquisition, in 2011by a large Private Equity company, they have made significant change, rationalisation and restructure and have now returned the business to a more lean, growing and profitable position.
Head Quartered in the UK, the business now seeks to build upon these foundations with significant, profitable growth and development. This will come from new markets, innovative new designs and bring more cutting edge new products to the market. In addition, they’re also considering making strategic acquisitions were appropriate.
So as to maximise efficiency in supply chain, from manufacturing through inventory, and to on time delivery to the customer, and to build best practice into the team, they now seek to appoint a capable Strategic Planning Manager.
The role will be high profile, with very regular contact with the executive team as well as development in planning b! eing a focus among the investors, making this a great opportun! ity for someone ambitious to gain real career development within to business and the wider organisations.
The role
Reporting to the Group Operations Director, you will play an important part within the Senior Management Team, adopting this strategic role responsible for production planning through each stage of the process. The role provides an interface between global sales and global manufacturing in ensuring customer expectations are exceeded and the commercial and financial objectives of the business are maximised through cost and lead time effective planning.
The role is responsible for the planning of the full production process, from works order to despatch. Responsibilities include WIP management, lead time control, cost-effective planning, changeover minimisation and sales-operations streamlining.
Weekly communication with the sales and production teams will be part of the responsibilities, to ensure customer orders are effectively configured for th! e appropriate manufacturing routes with seamless integration of orders into production plans.
The role will liaise with the continuous improvement teams in identifying value stream opportunities related to quality, cost and customer lead times.

People Scope and Responsibilities
The role is directly responsible for the UK operations planning team and also the planning departments of several other divisions, including their Indian and Portuguese operations, within production as well as service centres.
Core Competencies
Broad supply chain experience with specific knowledge of production planning! and S&OP is a prerequisite. Proven management experience is also requi! red.
You should have excellent team working and communication skills, strategic awareness, cost management experience, continuous improvement skills, experience in multi-functional team working, and assertiveness. We seek someone with a natural leadership style, commercial flair and a strong academic background.
