There is a challenging opportunity for a Stress Analyst to join a successful defence engineering company with headquarters in Europe. The company has been successfully completing a number of different projects within the! defence industry and these projects have enabled this position to be vacant.

Youll be responsible for specific work including stress analysis of the different components in a manufacturing environment, consisting of pressurised and related components. Youll liaise with many other engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Design Engineers, Production Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers. Youll provide technical input into the business development and problem solve stress and strain issues both analytical and advanced FEA methods, including failure modes and safety factors.

To fulfil these requirements you must have the following skills / experience:
Degree in Engineering or Mathematics
Experience using FEA packages ideally Abaqus
Experience of stress analysis on highly stressed components
Experience of manufacturing processes and precision engineering
Interest in complex materials, polymers etc
Understanding the fundamentals of! instrumentation, tooling and pressure vessels

The Company

  • Analysis if often verified by structural testing. Static testing is conducted in our own structural test facility where combined pressure, bending and torsional loads are applied across a wide temperature range. Fatigue testing is conducted by external sub-contractors.
  • Stress analysis of specialist tooling is also conducted covering all stages of manufacture, assembly and testing.
  • All aspects of the stress analysis are documented and form a key part of the certification process. This includes the compilation of a formal structural design record and presentation of the results to our customers and government representatives.
Role Requirements

  • Good deg! ree in Mathematics or Engineering
  • Good understanding ! of basic principles of stressing
  • Experience of solving practical stressing problems in an engineering environment
  • IP or a year in industry would be an advantage but not essential
