Toolmaker/Bench Hand - Progression Press Tools - Press toolmaking ! & experience of working with Tungsten Carbide tooling preferred - apprentice trained - read, translate and feedback technical information - based Birmingham - salary £12 per hour c£23K
We are looking for an apprentice trained. Toolmaker/Bench Hand with a Craft or Technician Qualification who is flexible, adaptable and multi-skilled.
Candidates for the position of Toolmaker/Bench Hand (Apprentice Trained) must have experience of Progression Press Tools and be able to read, translate and feedback technical information
Good communication, planning and scheduling skills are required as are good numeracy and literacy skills and the ability to work successfully on own initiative
Previous Press toolmaking and experience of working with Tungsten Carbide tooling preferred.
Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, the role of Toolmaker/Bench Hand (Progression Press Tools) will involve building, repairing and maintaining complex multi-stage pro! gression press tools to fine tolerances, with the target of en! abling them to run successfully "first-time" in a production environment using high speed presses.
The successful applicant will have experience of high volume, precision press toolmaking, utilising tungsten carbide modules and exhibit exceptional organisational skills.
Day to day duties will include:
- Building and developing new press tools - progression and single stage - feeding back into Designs to update and improve technical drawings and documentation.
- Producing new tools, repairs and maintenance to pre-determined standard times and estimates.
- Using recognised problem solving techniques to analyse tool problems.
- Strip and rebuild of tools for maintenance/ repair and re-grind.
- Organising logistics for Spares/ repairs.
- Analysis and actioning of tool problems in Production.
- Management of the tool tryout process.
- Mentoring of trainees and apprentices.
- Promoting and! utilising the Company's Health & Safety requirements.
- Championing the use of appropriate PPE.
- Promoting and striving to improve 5s Standards.
