A leading manufacturer of special purpose equipment has a requirement for a Project Manger to join their ! Kidderminster based production facility. The role is offered on a permanent basis so would suit candidates looking for a stable career move.
Reporting to the Head of Programmes, this key role will manage the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.
Functioning within the Defense sector, projects are complex and highly contractual. Candidates should ideally be able to demonstrate experience of project management within a similar environment such as Aerospace, Automotive or Defense, but those with the required attributes who have experience from other backgrounds will be considered.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Improving project value and project margin.
- Project reporting, both internally to the Business and externally to the Customer.
- Ma! nage, monitor and motivate the cross-functional team assigned ! to the project.
- Working closely with the customer to understand the business requirements for the project, developing effective working relationships and on-going management processes for the project.
- Approval and/or authorisation of documents as defined in Approved Signatory or Delegated Authorities List.
Candidates should have experience and knowledge of the following:
- Previous knowledge of planning, managing and delivering development and production projects involving small to medium batch manufacturing of discrete and complex products and sub-components; especially developmental projects where the parameters are constantly changing.
- Engineering background and qualification preferred, probably at degree level or equivalent.
- A sound commercial and financial understanding is required.
- Knowledge and experience of Project Management software tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Pr! oject would also be necessary.
- Good customer skills and an ability to work and communicate with people at all levels in the organisation.
- Prepared to travel within the UK and Europe.
- Ability to work in/with a multi-disciplined team.
- Knowledge of MoD and aerospace applications would be an advantage.
- Effective risk management (demonstrated experience of effective risk mitigation is more important than knowledge of a particular process).
