Heronswood Primary School is in a rapid improvement cycle to raise standards in learning outcomes. There is an opportunity for an experienced middle leader / deputy head! teacher to further develop leadership skills in partnership with the Head Teacher, governing body and the school staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to draw on a range of experiences to support school improvement, particularly identifying under performing children and developing strategies and systems to enhance provision. Key to this will be to lead & support teaching & learning by mentoring in any age group in the primary range, lead a key stage team and take responsibility for a number of curriculum areas. Although initially there is no class teaching commitment there is a need to support all staff as part of the improvement cycle.

• An ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively with other members of the senior leadership team
• Well organised, innovative and flexible; someone who is always looking ! to improve systems
• A high level of professionalism an! d integrity

• Understands how high quality relationships can lead to better outcomes
• High expectations of children’s attitudes, manners and behaviour
• An understanding of how to carry out performance management of other staff and support people with their professional development
• Has a positive outlook, even under pressure
• A sense of humour â€" we are looking for someone who appreciates that enjoyment can lead to success!
