Science Technician Birmingham GBP8.50-GBP10 per hour Aspire People are an established education agency that are looking to recruit a Science Technician to work in a secondary school in the Birmingham area. It is important that you have experience working within a school environment or have a solid back ground working within a laboratory. Aspire People are looking to recruit an experienced senior science Technician to work in a secondary school in south Birmingham. The position is full time, Monday - Friday with a vie! w to becoming permanent for the right person.
The ide! al person will have experience as a Senior Science Technician either working within a secondary school or FE. You will be determined, enthusiastic and driven! All applicants will be required to hold a valid DBS certificate or willing to pay for a new application at the cost of GBP52. Some of the duties that will be required are as follows: *Liaising with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans *Running trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrating techniques for experiments *Preparing equipment and chemicals before lessons - from test tubes to state-of-the-art microscopes *Maintaining and repairing equipment and laboratory apparatus *Record keeping, e.g.
For student's practical sessions, tracking methods, results, etc *Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned and that chemicals, drugs and other materials are appropriately stored *Cataloguing recordings and making them available when requested (if the department! houses audiovisual resources) *Supporting the work of teachers in classes and laboratory sessions and giving technical advice *Giving technical advice to staff and students *Working with individual students and supporting them on research projects *Managing the stock control of chemicals and equipment *Contributing to high-level research, if working at university level *Ensuring that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly coordinating work in the laboratory to ensure efficient use is made of expensive pieces of equipment Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted if you meet the above requirements Aspire people have a flexible and reliable approach to our schools and candidates and our consultants work around your requirements and objectives to ensure we find the right job for you.
